Workout of the Day:

Ten rounds for time of:
135/95 pound Deadlift, 15 reps
15 push-ups

    Will call it an RX because I did 1/2 girl pushups and I am a girl…thank T for fixing my grip and providing some chalk!

    I used to dread high-rep deadlifts, but they went well today. Must be the shoes :) . Push ups, on the other hand, are still a major goat. Maybe I should try “Kipping Push-ups”: http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/CrossFit_CFHELKippingPushup.wmv

    Devil’s Advocate: What makes the kipping push-up less valid or less Rx than a kipping pull-up or kipping ring dip? It’s still going through the range of motion from point A (floor) to Point B (plank with full extension) and does so more efficiently.

    okay obviously a girl push up isnt a rx push.. up I think everyone knows that. It all depends what the standard is for a particular workout or particular day. The problem with all kipping movements or strict movements is when the person performing the movement can only perform one of them or becomes so dependent on a movement that he or she doesnt get stronger. None of the coaches gave the push up standard today so kipping would be okay. Usually we will go over what the standard is. Once the standard is set….its set. A athlete should be able to perform all movements. What about athletes that do strict push ups but there upper stomach/chest doesnt hit the floor and there elbows dont lockout at top…..thats definetly not RX.

    Think I’ll do the discuss thing more often! I read with interest…One thing is certain, it’s a fun challenge to go plus Rx if you feel like it.
