How long have you been CrossFitting?

Since the doors opened in 2009 with some breaks in between while I had my two children. I had personal training with Tarasa at a local gym and followed her here.

What is your favorite WOD/Exercise?

I like chippers as you can push really hard when you know it's just one set of a movement and they're fun. In terms of exercises and movements, I really like running, bar muscle ups, snatches and handstand push ups.

What is your least favorite WOD/Exercise? Rowing (I say because I'm short) but then I like wall balls.....mmm! I guess I just don't like rowing then.

What is your previous workout/athletic background? Athletics (or track if you're from across the pond), swimming and tennis growing up. When I moved to Cayman in 2007, I got into team sports like rugby (touch and contact) and also did some running.

What was your first experience at CrossFit Cayman like? It was really hard but fun. The gym before Camana Bay was an old industrial warehouse and I remember walking in and just seeing a pull up bar, ropes and some weights...I had only ever been in regular gyms so it was cool to see this old school gym and just get to work.

What results have you seen since CrossFitting? Too many to write here but just overall strength, confidence and a greater understanding of how your body works. It's the only training I've done that made abs appear:) Even family in Scotland now do CrossFit.

What do you do to get yourself through a tough workout (mental thoughts, tips and tricks, etc.)? I just kind of tell myself I'll feel good when it's done which is usually true. These days, it's also a little break for me from mum duties which I find tougher ;)

What's your favorite aspect about working out at CrossFit Cayman? Class workouts and the coaches. Everyone is really friendly and the coaches go above and beyond to make sure that you work out safely and reach your goals. They always take extra time to help you if you're working on something. I also like that they are very welcoming to my children who tend to come in and swing on the rings and bars after each class.

What advice do you have for someone thinking about joining CrossFit Cayman? What are you waiting for? Grab a friend and come to the next Saturday free trial class, I bet you will like it!
