How long have you been CrossFitting? 10 months

What is your favorite WOD/Exercise?

I quite like the sessions where there is an element of running and a Hill Run first thing on a Saturday morning definitely gets the weekend off to a good start.

What is your least favorite WOD/Exercise?

I’m still getting to grips with some of the workouts which involve the snatch and anything involving a high volume of burpees is always a challenge.

What is your previous workout/athletic background?

I played Football (Soccer) when I was younger and I’ve had an on/off relationship with the Gym over the past 15 years. I’ve also done fitness bootcamp type workouts in the past and whilst not exactly Crossfit there are some similarities.

What was your first experience at CrossFit Cayman like?

I seem to recall being slightly overwhelmed by how fit everyone was and quite daunted initially. That soon passes though as everyone is just doing their own thing and the workouts can be adapted when you’re starting out.

What results have you seen since CrossFitting?

I’ve definitely lost weight and my general fitness has improved massively. I seem to recall on the Foundations I was struggling after a few squats and a 200 metre run which seems a lifetime ago now.  Also I did a 5k run recently, which I wouldn’t have been able to do last year, and is down to fitness gains at Crossfit.

What do you do to get yourself through a tough workout (mental thoughts, tips and tricks, etc.)

Probably the best thing to do is break up the workout so it doesn’t seem so daunting. I always think for example if there are 8 rounds, concentrate on getting to 4, and then when you’re in the second half pride/adrenaline takes over and you make it to the finish line (usually).

What's your favorite aspect about working out at CrossFit Cayman?

I quite like the variety which improves all elements of your fitness. There is a new challenge every day and you soon get to know your strengths and areas for improvement.

What advice do you have for someone thinking about joining CrossFit Cayman?

I think like most people I would say just do it as you have nothing to lose. Anyone can start the journey and you will be surprised how your fitness improves in a short space of time.
