Sarah Ryan

Name: Sarah Ryan

 Age: 35

 Hometown:  Ennis, Ireland

How long have you been CrossFitting? 8 years total although with a brief (2 year) foray into F45 when I first moved to island – I kept up a little bit of Crossfit/weightlifting during that time but have been back at it as my main form of exercise for a year now.

What is your favorite WOD/Exercise?  Anything that involves squat cleans and/or burpees. In terms of a WOD, I do love a long chipper but also Fran.

What is your least favorite WOD/Exercise? Rowing – at (almost) 5’3 with short legs, I am just not built for it (Jasmine knows ).

What is your previous workout/athletic background?  Irish danced competitively until I was 21. I did a bit of running to keep fit after that before I found CrossFit.

What was your first experience at CrossFit Cayman like? It made me regret not joining up sooner! Everyone was super friendly and welcoming, and the coaches were so helpful and knowledgeable.

What results have you seen since CrossFitting? Since joining CrossFit Cayman, I have gotten much stronger and toned again and my fitness has improved massively. Also, lifting heavy weights is the best stress reliever!

What do you do to get yourself through a tough workout (mental thoughts, tips and tricks, etc.)?  I zone out and don’t really think too much about it to be honest- good music helps though.

What's your favorite aspect about working out at CrossFit Cayman? Without a doubt, the people! The coaches are top class and have helped me improve loads on movements like toes to bar and snatches with great tips and little tweaks to my form. The members make the classes so fun and there is always a great atmosphere, even at 6am!

What advice do you have for someone thinking about joining CrossFit Cayman? You do not need to be fit or strong before joining CrossFit – that will come! The best thing about Crossfit is that everyone can do every WOD as each can be scaled to your ability and you’ll notice huge improvements in just a few weeks.
