What was your first experience at CrossFit Cayman like?
Having moved to Cayman last year, I was really excited to find a gym that values the fundamental integrity of the movements of CrossFit and values the community aspect of CrossFit. Really quickly, I felt like I had found a home at the gym.
What results have you seen since CrossFitting?
CrossFit has provided me with a reliable baseline fitness for anything and everything physical I've participated in. I took about 5 years off, and was able to come back and very quickly not only get back to but exceed my previous level of fitness. CrossFit also provided me with a psychological resilience and ability to know myself as someone who can go beyond what I thought was possible (thanks to the coaches and community).
What do you do to get yourself through a tough workout (mental thoughts, tips and tricks, etc.)?
When I start to get uncomfortable, I practice letting go of the significance and drama of the discomfort. A lot of the time we add suffering to discomfort, instead of letting discomfort just be what it is, which is usually a combination of physical sensations and mental states/thoughts. When I discipline myself to do that, it gives me a lot more room to perform.
What's your favorite aspect about working out at CrossFit Cayman?
The community!
What advice do you have for someone thinking about joining CrossFit Cayman?
Do it! Give it a shot. Maybe you'll discover it's not for you, and that's OK. Or maybe you'll fall in love with it and never look back. CrossFit (like most things in life) is a mountain with no top, but it's a really great mountain to be on with the people who are on it with you.
