What was your first experience at CrossFit Cayman like? “A friend told me about CrossFit and prior to starting; I did some research on it. The feedback was encouraging. When I started the foundation sessions I was interested in wanting to learn more. I recall Matt saying that a small fraction of interests stay and I remember thinking I want to be a part of that fraction. Though I was eager, I was apprehensive at the same time; apprehensive because I didn’t have much weightlifting experience and I doubted my abilities a lot.”

What advice do you have for someone thinking about joining CrossFit Cayman? “When people ask me what gym I go to and I tell them, they are like ‘Oh you have to be in shape to crossfit’ and that was my thoughts too when my boss gave me a 3 month membership for my birthday. I didn’t know I would get to the level that I am at now, but crossfit is for all ages and levels of fitness because the exercises are tailored to what you can do. CrossFit Cayman is a great gym to join to help you get to your fitness goals and in shape in a family friendly environment.”

What’s your favorite aspect about working out at CrossFit Cayman? ”The coaches. I believe they truly care about the health and wellbeing of their members and have the training and experience to effectively program workouts, teach, and coach members in a way that not only improves their fitness, but ingrains technical excellence. This is important because many Crossfit style workouts can be dangerous if not done properly. And frankly, it just takes me too long to recover from injuries now, so I like to avoid them if I can.”

What do you do to get yourself through a tough workout (mental thoughts, tips and tricks, etc.)? “If its a complex movement I try to simplify it and focus on only one or two aspects of the movement. It is tough physically I’ll try to match up with someone who is a bit faster, stronger, etc. and try to stay with them.”
